Gang:
And how is your week going?
John and I are always thrilled to receive coverage in magazines, especially publications in Europe and abroad (maybe that will get us a client in London or Beijing, and then we could then spend months abroad!).
So here’s a lovely feature in the Dutch magazine Residence on our Brooklyn home that has just hit top Amsterdam newsstands.
Who know what the Dutch folks wrote about us, but, hopefully, it is all about how fun we are and why we should be hired to design top Dutch households…

Here's the first spread of the multi-page feature on Madcap Cottage in top Dutch design magazine Residence. Our den is a fabulous mix of patterns and hues. The chandelier hails from a flea market in Miami, Florida. The ottomans will be up for sale on our next One Kings Lane Tastemaker Tag Sale on May 4. The rug is from Merida, and the coffee table is for sale on our 1st Dibs boutique.

Here's a selection of the Madcap Cottage wares that went "live" on One Kings Lane today. Shop our sublime sundries...
Gang:
I hope that everyone is having a fabulous week…
Have you bookmarked our two online boutiques?
One Kings Lane
https://www.onekingslane.com/shop/madcapcottage
AND
1st Dibs
http://madcapcottage.1stdibs.com
We have gleefully giddy new items going up daily and weekly, so look us over…
Bring some Madcap Cottage home, and right this very second.
On another note, I wanted to show you how to take a white wall and oomph it up with wallpaper. Here’s a “before” and “after” of our guest bedroom in Brooklyn. Why not “wow” a dull space with a deliciously patterned paper.
And, no, that was not a suggestion.

Here's our guest bedroom at Chester Court with a wallpapered ceiling but before we decided that the space needed extra "punch" courtesy of wallpaper on the walls.

Here's the very same guest room with the formerly white walls done up in Thibaut's Baron wallpaper from their Residence collection. Click on the image, above, to see the paper on the Thibaut website.

Enjoy these images of a spring-kissed sun room that John and I designed for a show house in Montclair, New Jersey a few years back. We used lots of green to create a cool, soothing environment embellished with pops of yellow and pink. We eventually sold the two armchairs on One Kings Lane. The tole flowers on the mantel now sit above our fireplace at Chester Court in Brooklyn.
Gang:
It’s a cold and blustery day in New York City, so I decided to post some images of a spring-like sun room that John and I designed for a show house in Montclair, New Jersey a few years back. The space was a boring white box, so John and I pumped the room full of color to maximize the impact. We used gobs of green and oodles of pink, and I think the results are refreshing and simply delicious.
Tell us what you think!

John and I slip-covered a Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams sofa in a jaunty lattice pattern and floral print, both from Schumacher. The plants on the stand in the window hail from Ikea, and the rug came from West Elm. Good design (not to sound not humble, natch) doesn't have to be expensive.

John and I embellished the lampshades of these gourd-shaped table lamps with grosgrain ribbon. Did you ever read John's book "John Loecke's Grosgrain Style?" We unearthed the chinoiserie-style chandelier at a flea market in Miami, and the stools are from Baker Furniture.

The fabulous Bamboo Lattice wallpaper from Thibaut's Spring Lake Collection took the ceiling of the sun room from boring to brilliant. The fabric on the green, white, and yellow window treatments came from Schumacher.

Here's an article in Chicago's Daily Herald in which I am quoted talking about my passion for all things gold and bronze. Click on the image, above, to read the whole story from divine writer Elaine Markoutsas.
Gang:
Happy New Year! Here’s to an amazing 2013…
What are your resolutions? I want to get into shape, spend more time at Madcap Cottage in upstate New York, throw more dinner parties, drink less, workout more, and get a product line going with Home Shopping Network.
Stay tuned!
As we move into the year ahead, I wanted to share my passion for all things gold…
Bow down, bronze goddess! Here are a few favorite golden “moments.”

Here's a custom striped silk and suzani pillow from the Madcap Cottage gents currently for sale on One Kings Lane right now. Click on the image, above, to look over this brassy confection.

The glittering and inexpensive Francois Table from the folks at Z Gallerie. A terrific deal at $249.

Here's the incredible Biomorphic Console from Baker's Tony Duquette Collection. The table is amazing, but wildly expensive... Use this if only for inspiration.

A gorgeous red-and-green floral pattern paired with orange welting--a Madcap Cottage signature--bolsters this fabulous and deliciously comfortable armchair.
Gang:
John and I are driving back from Tampa, Florida to Brooklyn today, so that will be us tooling up I-95 with tables and suitcases tied to the roof of our Subaru like high-end okies.
But let’s talk design. Does your home lack stellar seating options?
Do you need some color in your chair selections?
Do you crave comfort and good looks paired with the pizzazz that only the Madcap Cottage gents can bring to fruition?
Well, you are in luck since our May 8 One Kings Lane sale has gobs of seating options…
Our One Kings Lane sale starts at 6pm on May 8, so mark your calendars and get ready to shop. We have 330+ items for sale this go-around, so there’s sure to be something for everybody and at every price point, too.
Peruse a few of our color-kissed perches…

A PAIR of glorious armchairs upholstered in a fabulous floral pattern with hot pink welting and buttons. Although these chairs don't have exactly the same shape (although the upholstery is the same on both), they would look terrific if paired together in front of, say, a fireplace or in a den. Plus, they are wildly comfortable and have the most amazing lines.

A PAIR of vintage metal faux bamboo chairs that your friends at Madcap Cottage had powder-coated in a bold pink hue. We then upholstered the chairs in a fun brown-and-white and vaguely ethnic print with a gorgeous welting. Once outdoor chairs, these lovelies should now serve as focal points indoors.

A faux bamboo chair that the Madcap Cottage boys have tweaked with a fresh green-and-white graphic pattern fabric and lemon-yellow welting. The perfect occasional chair to use in various rooms of your home.

John and I love nothing more than a fabulous ikat fabric, so here we have covered a PAIR of gorgeous and comfortable armchairs in a blue-and-white ikat pattern with rainbow-hued welting for a little extra kick. Chic!

A quartet of vintage armless dining chairs done-up in a frondy palm print that reminds us of the coffee shop at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Plus, a gorgeous vintage faux bamboo, glass-topped game table. Wow, what a stunning set, n'est-ce pas?

Click on the image, above, to visit our just-opened "One of a Kinds" boutique on 1st Dibs. John and I have searched the world for an amazing selection of goods that will transform your home.
Gang:
As you know, John and I love doing sales, both online and off…
We are constantly scouring the globe (and we mean, the globe) for fabulous finds… We have unearthed divine textiles in Turkey, furnishings in India, and table lamps in the hinterlands of Florida. Each of these items receives the Madcap Cottage tweak and twist, and then we offer them up to you to bring some magic, color, and verve into your own home.
So bring on the sales!
John and I are hosting a Tastemaker Tag Sale on One Kings Lane on May 8th, so MARK your calendars.
And we will be hosting our World-Famous Annual Yard Sale over Memorial Day weekend at Madcap Cottage in Hobart, New York, smack in the center of the Catskill Mountains.
And, now, drumroll please…
The Madcap Cottage boys have unveiled our “One of a Kinds” boutique on the fabulous 1st Dibs website. I am sure that everyone is familiar with 1st Dibs, but if you aren’t it’s the most divine collection of antiques, real estate, fashion, and jewelry to be found under the sun. We are truly honored and excited to be included in the 1st Dibs mix.
Here are some of the fabulous items that John and I have collected and are now offering up through the 1st Dibs portal. Each item is truly unique and special. So get ready to shop!
Look us over, and tell your friends!

John and I unearthed this simply stunning vintage wicker hood chair in Pennsylvania, and we poked and prodded it back into shape. The chair is amazing, and now boasts Tony Duquette fabric and signature Madcap Cottage flourishes such as shocking pink welting. We are sort of sad to part with this lovely looker.

A vintage shell-shaped console table with a glass top. Does your front entry need a terrific table to create some visual verve? Um, this plucked-from-the-sea beauty would fit the bill, and how.

A vintage tole metal lamp shaped like a delicious leafy plant with a bold black shade. Every room needs a whimsical and wonderful table lamp, and this oversized beauty is a stunner.

A nearly life-size brass deer with Asian flair and flourishes that would make a real impact in the corner of a room, perhaps a den or library. This piece is really special.

A fabulous vintage table with a tree trunk-like base and utterly charming feet in the form of birds. This table is just so unusual and stunning, n'est-ce pas?

Our Chester Court home is featured in the glorious pages of the April issue of British House & Garden magazine... Run, don't walk to your nearest newsstand that carries international editions. John and I are so thrilled: In fact, we are doing a small jig as we type this blog installment.
Gang:
And how was your weekend? Any good design projects going on? Do tell!
And did you check out our new Madcap Cottage website?
John and I are so lucky to have our projects written about in the press, and we are especially thrilled that British House & Garden magazine has featured our Chester Court home in their April issue. Wow, we are over the moon.
And they had me write the story! How’s that for drop-dead gorgeous?!
Here’s a little sneak peak of the feature…

Sue Crewe, British House & Garden's amazing Editor in Chief, opens her April "From the Editor" by discussing our house. I love that she calls our home "bonkers." Brilliant!

Here's the opening spread to the story on our Chester Court home in British House & Garden. Jasper and Weenie get some major play in the feature... Jasper loves to pose.
