All About Eau de Nil!

Fabulous Fortnum & Mason!

Pantone might have declared 2013 to be the year of emerald green, but John and I will be pushing eau de Nil. To appreciate the eau de Nil hue in all its splendor, pay a visit to London's fabulous Fortnum & Mason department store. Here, F&M decked out for the holiday season. F&M even has eau de Nil-colored beehives upon its roof. Genius!

Gang:

As you know, John and I are simply crazy about employing shades of green in our design work. There’s nothing more soothing than splashes of green in a home.

Pantone has just announced that emerald green is the color of 2013. And while the Madcap Cottage gents do love emerald green, we are committed to another shade of green for the year ahead, eau de Nil.

Eau de Nil? Doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps. Water of the Nile. Think a pale yellow-green color… John and I are simply mad for eau de Nil and plan to use it extensively, including painting our front door this kick-ass color.

Here are a few images of eau de Nil-ish creations to inspire you to employ this marvelous hue in your own home.

Beauport Beauty!

The absolutely gorgeous Golden Step dining room at the stunning Beauport, Sleeper-McCann House in Gloucester, Massachusetts. This room is one of my top ten favorites.

Let's Spritz!

The delicious Un Jardin sur le Nil fragrance from Hermes. Bliss. John and I always spritz ourselves with this scent when we pass a duty-free shop in the airport.

Sublime Smythson!

An eau de Nil-ish notebook from the color-crazy crew at Smythson of Bond Street. Such fun!

Jasper Ware!

Jasper Conran's Chinoiserie Green 9" dinner plate from Wedgwood. Perfection!

An Apple a Day!

Cooking Apple Green from British paint company Farrow & Ball is pure heaven.

A Real Page-Turner!

John scopes his mention in the color-packed pages of the February 2012 issue of House Beautiful magazine. What a treat to be included in HB!

Gang:

Wow, what a banner week…

First, I make it into Jeryl Brunner’s fab book, and now John gets a mention in the February 2012 issue of House Beautiful magazine…

Turn to page 23 to read John’s words about why Farrow & Ball’s Blackened 2011 is the perfect paint. We simply love Farrow & Ball paints from England, and you should, too!

We are off to Madcap Cottage in ten minutes, I cannot wait for some downtime in the country.

Enjoy your weekend!

Color Crazy!

Run to your local newsstand for the February issue of House Beautiful... It's the perfect weekend read.

Mark Your Calendars!!! Destination Design: All-Access Manhattan!

Monday, September 5th, 2011

Gang:

I hope you had a fabulous, relaxing holiday! Any good stories? We have plenty, but more on that later.

Mark your calendars:

John and I are planning a seminar entitled “Destination Design: All-Access Manhattan” to take place from November 4-6 in New York City for a maximum of 15 fabulous folks.

Here are the details:

No one knows how to navigate the stylish byways of New York City better than the dashing John Loecke, Inc. duo: A former magazine editor, Loecke was named as one of the country’s 40 Interior Designers Under 40 by House Beautiful magazine and his design creations have been published everywhere from Domino and New York magazine to Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens. Nixon is the former editor in chief of both Gotham and Hamptons magazines, the Bibles for the NYC style set, and was a producer at the Food Network and an editor at Condé Nast Traveler. When he isn’t whipping up interiors magic with John Loecke, Nixon is currently the Global Lifestyle Editor at Delta Sky magazine, the in-flight publication of Delta Airlines (6 million-plus readers each month). Together, the Loecke/Nixon team traverse the city—not to mention the world—seeking out the best and the brightest in interior design, style, food, trends, and fashion and then distill much of that information into their action-packed, color-filled blog, Demystifying Design (www.demystifyingdesign.com).

If you are passionate about design or hope to see New York City with unparalleled connections and insider entree, “Destination Design: All-Access Manhattan” is for you. Loecke and Nixon will guide attendees through a weekend-long series of exclusive showroom and boutique visits after-hours and with presentations, seminars, meet-and-greets, cocktail parties, and dinners that offer all-access that only this dashing duo could provide. Best of all: Guests will pick a room in their home that they would like the John Loecke, Inc. duo to consult upon, and they will send in any and all information about that particular room in the month before the seminar. During the course of the weekend, Loecke and Nixon will meet with each conference attendee and discuss their particular room and point out must-have items as they travel from showroom to showroom (from Baker Furniture at the New York Design Center to 1st Dibs @ NYDC), boutique to boutique (from the Rug Company and Farrow & Ball to ABC Carpet & Home and Bergdorf Goodman). And participants will also receive incredible discounts at each venue.

At the end of the weekend, each participant will not only have seen New York City through the pages of Loecke and Nixon’s black book, but they will have a take-away to transform a room of their very own. Plus, the All-Access crew will be invited to an exclusive dinner at Loecke and Nixon’s Brooklyn brownstone for an evening of revelry: Guests will be whisked by car service to 17 Chester Court for a spirited evening of design, style, and decadence.

Anyone who hires the John Loecke, Inc. team within 3 months of the seminar can apply a significant portion of the Destination Design cost to the John Loecke, Inc. design fee.

And the cost? $3,500 for the weekend, exclusive of airfare and hotels, but inclusive of everything else fabulous under the sun. Plus, you get to be our best friend for a weekend.

Sound madcap and marvelous? Well, it will be!

If you want to be one of the 15 participants in this fabulous weekend, drop me an e-mail.
